Here Are 5 Tips To Help Spend More Time With Your Loved Ones And Less Time Stressed This Holiday Season!

The holiday season is in full swing (crazy, we know!!), and if you are anything like 90% of the US population – you’ll be hitting the stores the stores hard this month! We’re all about working smarter, not harder, at The Meyer Lucas team and to say THANK YOU we wanted to share our teams’ tips and tricks to help cut some time off your holiday prep - leaving you with more time for family!

1. Instant Mashed Potatoes

Who doesn’t love a delicious, buttery, smooth, creamy, fluffy, heaping of mashed potatoes? (Is your mouth already watering too?) Let’s face it – dinner during the holiday events can be stressful and time tends to fly by too quickly.

A tip that I love and that my family has not noticed (yet), is taking some frozen mashed potatoes, heating them up, and throwing them into a fancy serving dish. I promise you; no one will even notice! I specifically love Bob Evans Original mashed potatoes – but any brand will do the trick! If you’re feeling fancy you can whip in extra butter and sour cream, then top it off with a sprinkle of chives.

2. Honey Baked Ham

A holiday dinner without Ham is not a party I want to be a part of - but with other big items taking up the oven, sometimes there’s just not enough space for both!

One of our agents, Brittney Thomas, shared a trick with the team that we will all be partaking in this year! (This is a secret, so if you are in Brittney’s family – please stop reading here and skip to the next tip. Each year Brittney orders a heat & serve ham from the Honey Baked Ham company, along with a few other side dishes. “I promise it’s beyond delicious and you’ll look like a total pro!” – Brittney. Just heat, serve and enjoy!

Fun Fact: They ship.

3. Not a Corner Cutter? Delegate Like a Boss!

One person holding the weight of getting everything in order for a holiday dinner is A LOT of work! Don’t be afraid to assign different side dishes, appetizers, or desserts, to your loved ones. More likely than not, they will say yes and take pride in what they bring. Leaving you with more time to be a host, not just a chef.

A win-win for everyone!

5. Table Décor

Table décor can be a real struggle for some - Our best piece of advice is to keep it simple an chic. First start with gold & white plates, utensils and cups. To balance the gold, pair it with wooden place card holders. To top off the look try throwing in some greenery to accent the wood and gold tones. In little to no time, you will have a beautifully balanced table setting to impress.

Pro Tip - If you want to save even more time, go for the disposable dinnerware set. You can still get the same style for a lot less and no mess!
