March 23, 2020

Getting to the gym can be hard with a busy work schedule and family responsibilities. Creating a gym in your home can allow you the time and flexibility to be able to work out whenever you get a free moment, whether it be in the middle of the night or day.

Read on to find out how to build your very own home gym, so you can work out at your convenience!

The Space

You’ll need to designate a space in your home to being your full time home gym! Maybe it’s a spare bedroom, office or garage you’d like to convert, but this space will have to be significant enough to fit the necessary equipment, as well as space to move around.

It may be in your favor to install carpet in your home gym space so you’ll be more comfortable when spending time on a gym mat.

What You'll Need

Set of Dumbbells

We suggest investing in a set of dumbells according to the weight you’ll be planning to lift. Generally, for men, you may want to have up to 70 pound dumbbells, but for women only up to 50 pounds.

Work Out Bench

You’ll need a bench to perform many exercises with your dumbbells so make sure to include an adjustable workout bench in your home gym- one that can be set to different inclinations to maximize the amount of workouts you can complete in your space.

Exercise Mat

An exercise mat is essential for stretching, ab workouts, and a number of different calisthenics. Invest in a few if you plan to have more than one person working out at once in your home gym.

Resistance Bands

Resistance bands are amazing for working out with minimal space and achieving the best results! They can be used for a plethora of different exercises for those times you want to spice up your usual routines.

To add to your weight training and HIIT workouts, cardio is a must! Everyone has a different preference when it comes to their choice of cardio, so choose a bike, stairmaster, elliptical, or treadmill to complete your home gym!
