We are in full summer mode right now, and even though it may feel like we’re always stuck in summer here in South Florida, here are some summer 2021 interior design trends that people are raving about right now. Keep reading to see what all the hype is about!

1. Greenery Indoors

This summer everyone seems to have some sort of plant inside whether that be a succulent, a flower display, or a Calathea Compact Star. With many people starting to work more from home due to the pandemic, it is a nice way to feel more connected with nature. It also brings some color indoors. If you feel like you don’t have enough space for plants in your place, you can always buy a plant hanger set to optimize space and still have some natural elements indoors. The best part is that this trend is perfect for all seasons and is totally timeless! (If you don’t have a green thumb, then your best route is definitely a succulent — talking from experience!)

2. Pop of Color

Earthy tones have recently been in, but for the summer you may want to bring in a colorful rug or a coral orange chair just to add some pop of color. When you think of summer, you think of the bright sun, the clear skies, and the blue ocean, which is why many people are starting to utilize the color blue so much this summer. Other pops of color you can add to your home are yellow and some shade of pink. This is a fun way to say, “Hello Summer!”

3. Walking on Sunshine

Summer wouldn’t be summer without the sun’s rays on a hot summer day on the beach, but why do you have to wait to get to the beach to feel those rays? Interior designers worldwide are claiming that letting natural light in your home is the way to go this summer. Some ways to do this are by opting for sheer curtains, having large windows (if you own the place), and if you don’t have many windows, buying lights that give off natural light. You will instantly feel happier once you see some beautiful natural light from outside coming into your home.

4. The More the Merrier

Minimalism is classic, but if you’re feeling like you need a change in your home, then try out maximalism this summer! The concept of maximalism is all about not being ashamed to have items around you that you love in lieu of keeping things simple with minimalism. Bring those floral prints, mix-and-match colors, plaids, and large wall decor back! This is about you telling your story and being surrounded with items you love without holding yourself back to keep a minimalist style.

5. Natural Wood

A trend right now is the Boho theme, and it makes sense because the Boho theme is very on brand with the summertime. Both represent a feeling of freeness, being laidback, and incorporating a mix of colors and patterns. Embracing natural wood in your home is a very Boho summer trend right now that is so easy to do! Natural wood is more relaxed than having a deeper wood in your house — making it very summery. Having natural wood in your floors is not the only option to bring in natural wood, but a very easy way to add it in your home is natural wood decor. Some great natural woods are wicker, rattan, and vintage wood pieces. Keep it light and classy this summer!
