It’s that time of year again: FATHER’S DAY! We know that the question of what to buy dad for this special day is already hard enough, but figuring out what TO DO is even more difficult. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! We have the absolute perfect activities to entertain dad and the in-laws. Here are 10 things to do for Father’s Day in and around the beautiful town of Jupiter, FL!
1. LIGHTHOUSE COVE ADVENTURE GOLF
Terrible at golf? NO WORRIES. Mini golf is the perfect fit for you! Lighthouse Cove in Jupiter offers two fun courses: Paradise Falls and Lost Lagoon, both containing 18 adventurous holes with wheelchair and stroller accessibility! If the family worked up an appetite after a great round, do not worry! Lighthouse Cove has a full restaurant, Burger Shack, along with an ice cream shop, 3 Scoops, right next door! And of course for the adults recovering after a long round, a full wine and beer menu is available just around the 18th hole. Lighthouse Cove is open from 11am to 11pm, 7 days a week, so there is no hassle trying to pick out a day or time of the week to go.
2. DUNE DOG CAFE
There cannot be a list of places to go in Jupiter without listing a Jupiter classic, Dune Dog restaurant. Dune Dog has been situated in Jupiter, FL since 1994 and is known for their "crowd-pleasing" food, island atmosphere, and local vibes! A perfect restaurant for an after the beach trip, but remember those shoes and shirt or you won’t get service people! A huge variety of all our cravings- hot-dogs, burgers, chicken sandwiches, FRIES, and so many more delicious things on the menu! A Jupiter restaurant that will please the whole family!
3. JUPITER INLET LIGHTHOUSE
Don’t worry, this is not one of those boring museums, we promise. The lighthouse is one of the best places to view the entire city of Jupiter, FL! A quick historical tour, several stairs, and you’ll be viewing the most scenic area in the state of Florida. At least we think so, of course! A perfect outing the entire family will enjoy!
4. BLOWING ROCKS NATURE PRESERVE
Even locals of Jupiter forget about this gem. Beautiful dunes, mangroves, sea grapes, and lots of turtle nests! Blowing Rocks Nature Preserve in Tequesta is the most magnificent nature preserve around. Lined with a rocky limestone shoreline, the beach of Blowing Rocks is sure to WOW the whole family. A perfect little beach trip for the whole family to enjoy! Take a trip up the beautiful nature preserve.
5. LOGGERHEAD MARINE LIFE CENTER
Don’t know how to entertain the fam after a long day at the beach? Take a walk to Loggerhead Marine Life Center! A beautiful center for injured turtles is sure to entertain the entire family. The facility includes an aquarium, a gift shop, and lots of turtles!! Baby turtles to old turtles, Loggerhead has them all!
6. JUPITER DUNES GOLF CLUB
If your fam is a little too “pro” for mini-golf, Jupiter Dunes Golf Club might be the perfect outing for you. If Dad likes to golf, and maybe the rest of the family isn’t too great, this public course is a great spot. It features waterfront views, and the entire course is par-3! So it’s a perfect location to learn how to play, or better your skills, with each hole ranging in distance from 70 to 178 yards. There are 18 holes and no tee times, so it’s first come, first-served. Take Dad on a golf-outing this year and enjoy the beautiful views at Jupiter Dunes Golf Club. Jupiter Dunes is not the only golf course in Jupiter, though! 7. Go on a nature Hike
Luckily, living in Jupiter, Florida comes along with tons of amazing natural areas to enjoy a beautiful nature hike with the whole family! Suprise Dad with a planned hike in one of Jupiter’s natural parks to give him a Father’s Day he won’t forget. Some of our favorite natural parks in Jupiter with hiking trails include Jonathan Dickinson State Park, Riverbend Park, and Limestone Creek Natural Area.
8. Backyard Barbecue
You might be tempted to plan a super extravagant outing for Father’s Day, but sometimes, something simple is the best idea! Get the kids involved in making decorations and helping prepare some of Dad’s favorite treats! If you’re looking to go above and beyond, pick up string lights to hang in the backyard to really surprise Dad! Head over to locally owned Pinders Seafood in Tequesta and pick up some fresh catch for the grill or Doris Italian Market for all your burger and dog fixins!
9. Bike Ride around Jupiter
There’s nothing like a family bike ride! This year on Father’s Day, take Dad for a cruise around J-Town or along the beaches! To make it a whole-day excursion, drive your bikes to the beach, bike-ride to one of our amazing local restaurants for lunch, and then end the day relaxing on the sand and enjoying the turquoise Jupiter waters. Some of our favorite local eateries that are close to the beaches include Latitudes at the Jupiter Beach Resort, Thirsty Turtle Sea Grill, Captain Charlie’s Reef Grill, The Burger Shack, and Guanabanas.
10. GO kayaking
One of the best things about living in Jupiter, Florida is all of the AMAZING waterways we have for all of the water sport fun! For Father’s Day, head to the Intracoastal or the ocean for a day filled with excitement. There are so many options to have a great time on the water, like kayaking in glass bottom boats at Get Up and Go Kayaking, paddle-boarding with Jupiter Pointe Paddling, or jet-skiing with Beach Water Sports of Jupiter. While you’re out there, make sure to keep your eyes peeled for manatees, plus tons of other beautiful sea creatures of the area!
