Hi! My name is Sara Cardenas. I was born and raised in South Florida and attended Jupiter High School. Currently, I am a rising junior at the University of Miami Herbert Business School, pursuing a double major in Management and Marketing. This summer, I had the privilege of interning with the Meyer Lucas team as a Marketing Associate under the guidance of Ariella, the Marketing Director.
While searching for a summer 2024 internship, I struggled to find a company that felt welcoming and aligned with my personality. I came across various "day in the life" posts on TikTok from a previous intern showcasing the office dynamic and day-to-day activities at Meyer Lucas in Jupiter, Florida. Seeing the lively and vibrant work environment convinced me that this was the right company for me.
Although my interests were not initially focused on becoming a real estate agent, I have always been fascinated by real estate itself and the creativity it involves. When I saw the listing for a marketing associate position and read the job description, I knew it would be a perfect fit, complementing the classes and projects I've tackled in school so far.
After reaching out to the team in fall and spring, I secured an interview with Hallie, the Chief of Staff. During our call, Hallie explained Meyer Lucas's values and confirmed my expectations of its progressive and family-like environment. I also had a successful interview with Ariella, where we discussed my previous work experiences and the team's expectations. Following these interviews, I was delighted to receive and accept an offer from the team.
Since starting in May, I have gained invaluable experience with the team. I've learned extensively about SEO (Search Engine Optimization) in marketing and how to effectively target and reach audiences. I've also enjoyed honing my graphic design and creative skills using tools like Canva. I find great fulfillment in seeing a listing through from photoshoot to marketing, open houses, and finally to a successful contract, ensuring both sellers and buyers are satisfied.
The Meyer Lucas team has been incredibly welcoming and supportive. One of the highlights of my role has been spending time in the field with agents, witnessing firsthand the challenges and successes of real estate in South Florida. A personal highlight was touring Nautilus 220 and learning about the revitalization of Lake Park and Riviera Beach. Having frequented this area my whole life, it's fascinating to see the behind-the-scenes efforts shaping its future.
Beyond the skills and knowledge gained, one of the most valuable aspects of my summer has been forming close bonds with fellow associates Olivia, Ben, Jacob, and Jenna. Spending many hours together in the office and on outings, we've developed a strong friendship that I truly cherish.
I'm thrilled to have been invited to extend my internship and continue as a remote Marketing Associate into my junior year, alongside Jenna, who interned with the team last summer. Thank you, Meyer Lucas, for an incredible summer experience!
