The Meyer Lucas Team is excited to share this post written by Jupiter’s own Jennifer Ribek, an award-winning interior designer known for designing beautiful spaces and providing personalized service from FL to NY.
Read on to hear from an acclaimed designer about why hiring a real estate agent & interior designer at the same time is the right move.
I love it when I get the opportunity to walk through a home with a realtor and potential buyer. The collaboration of ideas and strategies is thrilling to me. To see the potential of what a space can look like feeds my soul. I am a true lover of real estate and innately passionate about interior design! If you are a homeowner looking to buy or sell a home, your first call to action is to hire the perfect team. This team consists of a realtor and an interior designer. You get the opportunity to explore great home options with an experienced realtor while envisioning exactly what you want your space to look like with your interior designer. That means no more settling for an “almost” perfect home. Why would you hire both the real estate agent and the designer at the same time? Why not wait until you’re in your new home to begin thinking about design? Let me explain!
Working together means more ideas, faster work, and larger goals accomplished sooner. By working this way, the realtor can focus on closing the sale while the interior designer can begin honing in on the design concepts. The collaboration between the realtor and the interior designer assures you that you will be taken care of from the early house-hunting days well past the day you move in. Both fields have a huge network of contacts to help you buy/sell, design, and get things done.
Imagine your real estate agent finding you a house with the perfect location and price point. The problem is, you can’t see past all the cosmetic issues - the outdated kitchen, the bathrooms have pink tile and your dining room is too small. With the help of an interior designer, you have the chance to see the home’s full potential. Their experience, training, and vision give them the ability to help you imagine what your future home could look like. Once the home is purchased, they will make that dream a reality by taking those ideas from concept to completion. When selling a home, factors such as kitchen upgrades, bathroom remodels, and whether or not you have a finished basement are taken into account when determining the price point to list a property. They are also a consideration for the buyers in deciding how much they want to offer. The right interior design investment now may pay off later.
When a realtor gets the house ready to go on the market, their priority is to make sure the house has great appeal. A Potential buyer wants to be able to envision themselves and their family in this house. They want to imagine their furniture and personal photos in this space. If a buyer walks into a house with bright-colored walls, and rooms cluttered with furniture and nick-nacks, they are unable to see that vision. That’s when a realtor calls in the designer for help. The interior designer might suggest painting the walls white, removing, and/or rearranging furniture and potentially purchasing some necessary items. All of these upgrades help to increase your home's value and appeal and ultimately sell at a higher price. If you’re looking for support in getting your home ready for market, or in the home buying process, I’d love to chat with you about my design services.
