Things to Do With Kids in Jupiter, Florida: The Ultimate Local Family Guide

From things to do with the kids and family-friendly restaurants to beaches, date nights, and local favorites, consider this your cheat sheet to getting plugged into the Jupiter community.

Whether your family is brand new to Jupiter or you've been here for a while and still find yourself Googling things to do with kids near me every Saturday morning, welcome. You can sit with us.

There is a lot to love about raising a family in Jupiter, Florida, but figuring out where everyone actually goes takes time. Which beach is best with little kids? Where can you grab dinner without worrying about bringing the whole crew? What can you do when it's raining? And, equally important, where are you going when you finally get a babysitter?

The Meyer Lucas Team lives, works, raises families, sells homes, and spends a whole lot of time around Jupiter and northern Palm Beach County. We've pulled together some of the local spots and activities worth having on your radar, from Tequesta down through Palm Beach Gardens.

Consider this your shortcut to getting a little more plugged into the community.

Things to Do With Kids in Jupiter, Florida

One of the best parts about living in Jupiter is that entertaining the kids doesn't always require an elaborate plan. Between wildlife encounters, beaches, parks, sports, and plenty of outdoor activities, there are options for just about every kind of weekend.

Busch Wildlife Sanctuary

Busch Wildlife Sanctuary is one of Jupiter's best family activities and an easy recommendation when you have elementary-aged kids. The nonprofit wildlife sanctuary rehabilitates native Florida wildlife while giving visitors the opportunity to see animals including alligators, bears, bobcats, birds, and more. Admission is donation-based, and it's educational without feeling like you're dragging everyone through a lesson.

It's also a great place to keep in mind when grandparents or friends with kids come to town.

Loggerhead Marinelife Center

Just south of Jupiter in Juno Beach, Loggerhead Marinelife Center is another local family staple. The sea turtle conservation and rehabilitation center features interactive exhibits, educational programs, and an outdoor sea turtle hospital where families can see some of the center's current patients.

General admission is free, and its location across from Juno Beach makes it easy to combine with a beach morning or lunch nearby.

River Center

For something a little more low-key, the River Center at Burt Reynolds Park introduces kids to the ecosystems of the Loxahatchee River through aquariums, interactive exhibits, and a touch tank.

The center also offers family programming throughout the year, including fishing clinics, science activities, and kayaking experiences. It's especially useful when you want an activity that doesn't need to take up your entire day.

Lighthouse Cove Adventure Golf

Lighthouse Cove Adventure Golf is an easy family-night option with two tropical-themed mini golf courses, food, and ice cream all in one place. It's close enough to the beach and Jupiter Inlet that you can easily make it part of a bigger afternoon without driving all over town.

The Best Jupiter Beaches for Families

If you're raising kids in Jupiter, beach days become part of the routine pretty quickly. The trick is knowing which beach works best for what you're trying to do.

DuBois Park is especially popular with families because of its protected swimming lagoon, picnic areas, playground, and views of the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse. The calmer water can make it a great choice with younger children, but you'll want to arrive earlier on busy weekends.

For a classic ocean day, Jupiter Beach gives you miles of coastline for swimming, surfing, walking, and spending the morning by the water. Jupiter is also known for its dog-friendly stretch of beach, so this is one to remember if the four-legged family member is coming too.

A little farther south, Juno Beach is another family favorite and pairs perfectly with a trip to Loggerhead Marinelife Center.

Kid-Friendly Restaurants in Jupiter

Finding a restaurant you love is one thing. Finding one where you can comfortably bring the kids is another.

Dune Dog Cafe has been a Jupiter staple since 1994 and fits the family-dinner category perfectly. The open-air atmosphere is casual, and the menu covers everything from seafood and ribs to burgers, wings, and hot dogs.

Lighthouse Cove is another easy option when you want dinner to double as an activity. Grab food, play a round of mini golf, and finish with ice cream without needing to load everyone back into the car between stops.

For the quintessential Jupiter experience, U-Tiki Beach combines casual waterfront dining with views of the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse. It's one of those places that works for a family dinner but still reminds you why living near the water is such a big part of the Jupiter lifestyle.

Up in Tequesta, Hog Snappers is a popular local option for seafood and sushi with a relaxed Florida atmosphere.

And if you're looking for even more options, our guide to the best restaurants in Jupiter, Florida has plenty more local favorites to work your way through.

Your Easy Jupiter Weekend

If you're wondering what to do with kids in Jupiter this weekend, you really don't have to overthink it.

Start Saturday with breakfast or coffee and get to the beach before the middle of the day. After lunch, head to Busch Wildlife Sanctuary, the River Center, mini golf, or whatever local event happens to be going on.

For the evening, Downtown Abacoa is always worth checking. Between restaurants, community events, green space, and baseball at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium, there's usually something happening that works for families.

On Sunday, grab breakfast and head to DuBois Park or Juno Beach for a slower morning. Jupiter is one of those places where a really good family weekend can be as simple as food, water, sunshine, and figuring out what everyone feels like doing next.

What to Do With Kids When It's Raining

Every South Florida parent eventually needs the rainy-day backup list.

The River Center works well when you're looking for something educational and interactive indoors, while The Gardens Mall in Palm Beach Gardens is an easy air-conditioned escape and hosts family-focused Kids Club events throughout the year.

It's also worth keeping an eye on recreation programs offered through Jupiter Parks & Recreation and Palm Beach Gardens Recreation. Both offer youth sports, camps, classes, arts, and family programming throughout the year, which can be especially helpful when you're looking for activities beyond a one-time weekend outing.

And sometimes the answer is simply a movie and popcorn. We fully support that plan too.

Where Jupiter Families Hang Out

Getting to know Jupiter isn't only about finding things to do. It's also about figuring out where the community tends to gather.

Downtown Abacoa is one of those places you'll probably end up at regularly. Between local events, restaurants, baseball games, and community activities, it has become a major gathering place for Jupiter families.

The Jupiter Inlet and Love Street area is another. Between waterfront restaurants, parks, boating, the lighthouse, and nearby beaches, it's one of the areas that really captures what people love about living in Jupiter.

Then there are the less obvious places that eventually become part of your routine: youth sports fields, school events, coffee shops, parks, and the restaurants where you start recognizing the same families.

That's usually when Jupiter starts feeling a little less new.

Keep an Eye on What's Happening Around Jupiter

One of the easiest ways to get involved in the local community is simply to show up.

Downtown Abacoa hosts events throughout the year, the Town of Jupiter offers community and recreation programming, and the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse regularly holds family activities and special events. Palm Beach Gardens also has a robust calendar of youth, family, sports, and recreation programs.

The Meyer Lucas Team regularly shares Jupiter events, new restaurant openings, local businesses, seasonal activities, and things happening around Palm Beach County, too. If you're constantly looking for something to do this weekend, our local guides are a good place to start.

Now, What About the Parents?

We promised this wasn't going to be entirely about your children.

Jupiter, Tequesta, and Palm Beach Gardens have plenty of options when you finally get a night to yourselves.

For an elevated waterfront dinner, 1000 NORTH combines an upscale atmosphere with Intracoastal and Jupiter Lighthouse views. Beacon is another polished waterfront option on the Jupiter Inlet and works well for date nights and special occasions.

In Tequesta, Evo Italian is a longtime choice for an upscale Italian dinner, while Il Professore offers a smaller, intimate Italian experience.

Head south into Palm Beach Gardens and you'll find even more options, including Café Chardonnay, a longtime local choice for date nights and special occasions.

Whether you're looking for waterfront drinks, a girls' night, happy hour, or dinner somewhere that doesn't have a children's menu, you definitely have options.

A Few Local Resources Worth Bookmarking

If you're still getting familiar with Jupiter, there are a few resources you'll probably use more than you expect.

The Town of Jupiter Parks & Recreation calendar is useful for local programs, parks, facilities, and community events. Downtown Abacoa maintains its own event calendar, and Palm Beach Gardens Recreation is worth checking for youth sports, classes, camps, and family programming.
