The Nora District is a 40-acre neighborhood just north of downtown West Palm Beach, built from a stretch of 1920s warehouses and rail-side industrial buildings along North Railroad Avenue. The first phase is open now, with more than a dozen restaurants, cafés, shops, and fitness studios on a walkable few blocks, and the district's boutique hotel is next in line.
We spent a morning in Nora recently touring the Nora House sales gallery at 955 North Railroad Avenue, which sits in the middle of everything in this guide. If you read our buyer's walkthrough of Nora House, this is the companion piece: where to eat, where to walk, and how to park once you're there.
Nora runs along North Railroad Avenue between roughly 7th and 11th Streets, just west of North Dixie Highway, with the Florida East Coast Railway tracks along its edge. The name comes from North Railroad Avenue itself. It's an easy drive from I-95, Okeechobee Boulevard, and the bridges to Palm Beach Island.
The district is being developed in phases by NDT Development, Place Projects, and Wheelock Street Capital in partnership with the City of West Palm Beach. Most of what's open today lives inside the restored original buildings, which gives the street a different feel from the newer towers downtown. Brick, steel, and old loading-dock proportions set the tone, and patios spill into the pedestrian lanes.
Del Mar is the largest restaurant in the district and the first Palm Beach County opening from Ohio-based Cameron Mitchell Restaurants. The menu leans coastal Mediterranean, with whole fish, shareable plates, and a long cocktail list. The space covers about 12,000 square feet, seats more than 340 guests across two bars and three private dining rooms, and includes a roughly 2,400-square-foot terrace built around a courtyard bar. It works for a birthday dinner or a group that wants to sit outside for three hours. Del Mar serves dinner nightly and opens for lunch on weekends.
1015 North Railroad Avenue
Loco was one of the first restaurants to open in Nora and is the Boston restaurant's first Florida location. Expect seasoned tortilla chips with house guacamole, creative tacos, raw-bar oysters, and margaritas. It stays open later than most of the district, until midnight Thursday through Saturday, which makes it the natural last stop of the night.
840 North Railroad Avenue
From The Garret Group, Sports & Rec is Nora's sports bar, with game-day food, cocktails, and screens built for a full slate of college and NFL Saturdays and Sundays. It's the easiest place in the district to meet a group without a reservation on a game day.
1035 North Railroad Avenue
H&H Bagels has been a New York City institution since 1972, and its kettle-boiled bagels made the jump to Nora with the original recipe intact. It opens at 6 a.m. daily, the earliest start in the district. 880 North Railroad Avenue
Sunday Motor Co. is an automotive-inspired café that started in Madison, New Jersey, in 2019 and chose Nora for its second location. The menu covers specialty coffee, all-day breakfast, brunch, and sandwiches, served from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day. Car people will find plenty to talk about here, and everyone else comes for the breakfast. 805 North Railroad Avenue
Celis Juice Bar handles smoothies, fresh juices, açaí bowls, and lighter breakfast and lunch plates, and it's the obvious stop before or after a class at one of the studios nearby. 895 North Railroad Avenue
Van Leeuwen Ice Cream brings the Brooklyn-born scoop shop and its dairy and vegan flavors to Nora, open until 9 p.m. nightly. 870 North Railroad Avenue
The retail mix in Nora is small and specific. Pompanos, a women's boutique founded in Palm Beach in 2021 by designer Paul DiGiovanni, carries ready-to-wear and accessories, including limited-edition pieces sold only in its own stores (1070 North Railroad Avenue). LUCE is the newest arrival, a fine jewelry shop from the family behind New York's Kravit Jewelers, which dates to 1927 (985 North Railroad Avenue). You'll also find Le Labo fragrances, Warby Parker, the women's boutique mint, and Carousel Fine Art.
On the wellness side, the district has [solidcore], SWEAT440, Gro Yoga & Wellness, ZenHippo, IGK Salon, and Sana Skin Studio, which is why the 8 a.m. crowd at Celis and H&H often arrives in workout clothes.
Nora hosts Dogs & Dogs on the last Thursday of every month, and it's the easiest way to see the district at its most neighborly, with locals bringing their dogs out to the pedestrian streets after work. Check the Nora Happenings calendar for each month's details before you go.
The addresses on North Railroad Avenue climb as you head north, so the district is easy to walk end to end in about 15 minutes, or in a long afternoon if you stop everywhere.
Start at the south end near 7th Street, where the valet stand sits, and get coffee at Sunday Motor Co. Walk north past Loco and Van Leeuwen to H&H Bagels and Celis. Keep going past the Nora House sales gallery and LUCE, and you reach Del Mar and Sports & Rec near the north end. Pompanos is just beyond, next to the space where Indaco will open. For an evening version, reverse it: dinner at Del Mar, a scoop at Van Leeuwen, and a late margarita at Loco.
The first hour is free in Nora's lots, and every lot runs through the ParkMobile app, so download it before you arrive and start a session using the zone number posted at your lot.
The premium lots between 8th and 10th Streets (Zone 1937) cost $5 for the second hour and $10 for the third, with a three-hour maximum and a $15 cap. They also have six EV charging stations north of 9th Street. The general lot at 11th Street and Spruce Avenue (Zone 1938) is the better choice for a longer visit, at $3 for up to two additional hours, a 10-hour maximum, and a $10 cap. Valet runs from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on North Railroad Avenue between 7th and 8th Streets for a $5 flat daily rate. Free, unmetered street parking is available on 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th Streets west of North Dixie Highway.
The Nora Hotel is the district's centerpiece: a 201-key boutique hotel from BD Hotels, the New York operator behind The Bowery and Hotel Chelsea, developed with hotelier Sean MacPherson. It's BD Hotels' first ground-up project outside New York and is scheduled to open in 2026. Plans include a rooftop restaurant and lounge with a pool, two bars, and cabanas, a lobby bar, and a Sisley Spa with four treatment rooms.
Pastis, Stephen Starr's Parisian-style brasserie, will open on the hotel's ground floor. For locals who know it from New York or Miami, it's the most anticipated opening in the district.
Indaco, from Indigo Road Hospitality, will serve house-made pasta, wood-fired pizza, and an Italian-leaning wine list at 1080 North Railroad Avenue. Swimwear and resort brand onia is also listed as arriving soon.
Further out, Nora House, the district's first condominium building, is planned for 1105 North Dixie Highway, with groundbreaking targeted for mid-2027 and completion expected in 2029. Our Nora House buyer's guide covers the floor plans, amenities, and timeline in detail.
