West Palm Beach GreenMarket Returns October 3 for Its 32nd Season
What is new at the downtown waterfront market this year, plus the dates, hours, and closures to plan around.
The West Palm Beach GreenMarket enters its 32nd season on October 3 carrying a title most local markets never earn: America's best farmers market, according to the USA Today 10Best Readers' Choice poll. For anyone who hasn't made Saturday mornings downtown part of the routine, this is a good year to start.
The market runs every Saturday from October 3, 2026, through May 22, 2027, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. along the downtown waterfront at 100 N. Clematis Street. Two Saturdays are dark this season: February 6, for the Palm Tree Festival, and March 20, for the Palm Beach International Boat Show, so it's worth checking the calendar before planning a visit around either weekend.
Five new vendors join the market this year: Ba Café, Arya Tea Bar, Macaroner, Sayblee Products, and Truffle Smiles, adding to the market's usual mix of produce, prepared food, and specialty goods. The season carries the theme "The World, Right Here," built around international foods and cultural traditions, with live music and weekly workshops running alongside the regular vendor lineup. The Master Chef Showcase, a market favorite, resumes November 14.
The GreenMarket's number one ranking rests on a real track record. It topped the USA Today 10Best Readers' Choice poll for three straight years before slipping to runner-up in 2024 and 2025, then reclaiming the top spot again this year, edging out finalists from South Carolina, Colorado, Arkansas, and several other states. Over its history the market has collected more than 40 awards, including a Best Market in Florida title from Cooking Light. The current run puts it in rare company: no other market in the country has held the number one spot as many times.
The market got its start in November 1995, when then-Mayor Nancy Graham opened it in the Old City Hall parking lot with 13 vendors, modeling it on the public markets she had seen in Europe. It grew quickly: by its second season it had expanded to roughly 45 vendors at Narcissus Avenue and 2nd Street. The market moved to its current spot on the West Palm Beach waterfront in October 2010, and the vendor count kept climbing from there. Today more than 125 vendors set up along the water most Saturdays, drawing crowds of 7,000 to 10,000 people on a good weekend.
Thirty-two years is a long run for any weekly market, and the GreenMarket's staying power comes from what it has always done well: a walkable waterfront setting, a rotating mix of local food and goods, and a reason to be downtown on a Saturday morning that has nothing to do with running errands. It is the kind of fixture that gives a neighborhood its rhythm. Residents plan mornings around it, visitors build weekend trips around it, and it anchors Clematis Street's identity as much as any single restaurant or shop does.
A different local musician performs near the Great Lawn each week, giving the morning a live soundtrack alongside the usual market chatter. The Pop-Up Wine Shop turns over a new wine region every Saturday, with bottles available to buy on the spot, and the Sprouts Program gives a new area business a launch slot in the market close to a dozen times each season. Dogs are welcome on a short leash, which matters on a Saturday that regularly draws thousands of people downtown.
